Due to unforeseen circumstances, our ESL Trainings and Classes will be postponed until the end of summer. If you’re still interested in being involved, we’d love to stay connected with you. Please contact us at [email protected]and we’ll keep you in the loop!
We invite you to join us as we serve our international neighbors by teaching English! God has opened the door to reaching the world by bringing people from diverse backgrounds right here to our city.
Join us on Thursday nights at Blackhawk as we demonstrate the love of Christ through teaching English and building relationships. Classes are for adult learners who are very motivated to learn! No ESL or teaching experience required. Training and teaching materials are provided by the church. Come join us in this fun and relational ministry!
We still have some very important roles that we need to fill in order to get our classes off the ground and be a blessing to our international neighbors:
- Teachers – Prepare and teach the lessons from the workbook each week.
- Classroom Assistants – Build relationships and provide one-on-one attention for students.
- Childcare Volunteers – Love on the children of our ESL students (this role is open to both adult and teen volunteers). *This is a crucial part of the ESL Ministry, since our goal is to reach and bless the whole family.
- Drivers – Drive students to and from Blackhawk on Thursday evenings using the BCS buses (no CDL required). We’d like to be able to offer this ministry to some of our new-to-Fort-Wayne refugee population, and transportation is key to being able to do this.
If God is calling you to show the love of Christ to our international neighbors through this ministry, please contact Dave Rennecker and Bailey Bada at [email protected].
